# NEOS Connector

Use Athena to price life, TPD, trauma and income protection cover against live rates from the NEOS Platform, inside a client workspace chat.

The NEOS Connector brings insurance pricing into Paradino's advice workflow. Ask for a premium in a client's Workspace and Athena reads the life insured's details from the client's record, prices the cover with NEOS, and reports what came back. You can then compare products, project premiums year by year, and refine the scenario in the same conversation.

> The NEOS Connector is being rolled out in stages. If you do not see NEOS on your Connectors page yet, your organisation is not in the current rollout.

## What you can do

* **Price cover for a client.** Name the benefits and the sum insured for each, and Athena prices them against live NEOS rates using the details already on the client's file.
* **Compare across products.** Compare the same scenario across NEOS Protection, Encompass Protection and Futura Protection, with the provider's comparability note attached.
* **Project premiums over time.** See what a premium costs year by year as the client ages.
* **Refine a scenario.** Change a sum insured, add or drop a benefit, move the waiting or benefit period, switch stepped to level premiums, or search for what fits a budget.
* **Look up occupation classes.** Athena resolves the occupation class from the provider's own catalogue rather than guessing it from a job title.

Athena can price:

* Life Cover, with ordinary or super ownership.
* TPD and Trauma (Critical Illness), standalone or as a rider on Life Cover.
* Income Protection, with a waiting period of 30 to 180 days or 2 years, and a benefit period of 2 years, 5 years or to 65.
* Child Cover, alongside an adult cover.

Premiums are generated across NEOS Protection, Encompass Protection and Futura Protection, on stepped or level to 65/70 premiums.

## Before you start

Before using the NEOS Connector, make sure you have:

* The NEOS Connector enabled for your organisation (see below).
* A client in Paradino with a current fact find or equivalent details in their record or Knowledge Base.
* The benefits and sum insured you want priced. Athena prices the cover you specify; it does not decide how much cover the client needs.

## How to switch on NEOS

NEOS is enabled once for the whole organisation rather than connected by each adviser.

1. In Paradino, open **Connectors** from the left-hand side bar.
2. Locate the **NEOS** card.
3. An organisation admin clicks **Enable**.

Once enabled, the card reads **Enabled** for everyone in the organisation. If you are not an admin, the card will tell you to ask one.

> There is nothing for an individual adviser to log in to, and no per-client connection to set up. Paradino holds the NEOS credential centrally, so unlike some other connectors there is no **Connect data** step on the client.

## Using NEOS in the Workspace

Premiums are always generated against the selected client, so ask inside that client's Workspace rather than in a general chat.

1. Select the client in the sidebar and open their **Workspace**.
2. Ask Athena in the chat window, in plain language. Name the benefits and the sum insured for each. That is the part Athena will not decide for you.
3. Read back the inputs. Athena states what it priced, names the product each premium belongs to, and flags anything it assumed. If a detail is missing it asks for that one thing rather than guessing.
4. Keep going in the same chat. Follow-ups such as "add $250,000 Trauma Cover" carry the earlier inputs, so you do not have to restate them.

For example, you can ask:

* Price $1.5m life cover and $500k TPD for Kristos, stepped, across all three products.
* Add income protection at $12,000 a month, 90-day wait, benefit period to 65.
* What does that life cover premium look like each year to age 65?
* Same cover but level to 70. How does the premium change?

## What Athena needs on the client's file

Athena looks for these details in the client's record and in the documents in their Knowledge Base. A current fact find is the usual source. Anything it cannot find, you can simply state in the chat.

| Detail | Why it is needed |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Full date of birth | Premiums change with age, so a month and year is not enough. Athena will ask rather than assume a day. |
| Gender | Required to price. |
| State of residence | Required to price. |
| Smoking status | Non-smoker, lifelong non-smoker, or smoker. |
| Occupation | Athena resolves the class from the provider's own catalogue. A guessed class can misprice a product, so it asks when the occupation is unclear. |
| Sum insured per benefit | Athena prices the cover you specify; it does not decide how much cover the client needs. |
| Gross annual income | Only for the Super Contributions Option on income protection. Athena will name the figure from the file and ask you to confirm it before pricing. |

## Best practices

To get the best result from the NEOS Connector:

* Keep the client's fact find and Knowledge Base up to date before asking for a premium.
* Always name the benefits and the sum insured for each. Athena will not choose a level of cover for you.
* Check the inputs Athena reads back before relying on the premium, especially the occupation class and anything it flagged as assumed.
* Use follow-up messages in the same chat to refine a scenario rather than starting again.
* Treat every premium as indicative. Formal quotes and underwriting sit with the provider.

## What it will not do

* **It compares these three products only**, so a comparison is never whole-of-market.
* **It cannot submit applications**, service policies, return underwriting decisions or bind cover.
* **It prices the cover you specify.** It does not decide how much cover a client needs.
* **It will not rank products by price or name one cheapest.** The products are not like for like, and Athena passes the provider's comparability note through instead.
* **It needs a full date of birth.** A month and year is not enough, because premiums change with age.
* **For the Super Contributions Option** it will ask you to confirm the client's gross annual income before pricing.

> Every premium is indicative and subject to formal quotes and underwriting. The provider's disclaimer is reproduced word for word with each result.
